Inspired by a fantastic 1970’s coat from London’s Camden Market, this is designed for a medium weight denim. You could also use brocade, heavy crepe or linen. Semi fitted above knee-length coat has optional lining, collar, long 2-piece sleeves and high waistband. Coat features a front button band, back & front Princess seams, and patch pockets. Use classic jeans-style topstitching or make this groovy coat au naturale. Wear with skinny jeans, ballet flats, a cosy turtleneck sweater & Diva-style shades, or make it to match our Plain & Simple 24/7 A-Line & Pencil Skirts for a modern skirt-suit.
Sizes 6-8-10 need around 3 yards each of fabric & lining; sizes 12-14-16-18 need around 3 ½ yards each of fabric & lining; sizes 20-22-24-26 need around 4 yards each of fabric & lining.
You will also need 6 x 1” / 25 mm buttons and 2 x 3/4” / 19 mm buttons.
All yardages are for 60” / 150 cm wide fabric.

This pattern has a lot of pieces (31 if I remember correctly) and is time-consuming, but wow, the finished coat looks great. I made this last winter, and the final coat is one of my favorite things I've made. I love that the pattern included separate pieces for lining, too. I will get a lot of use out of my coat for years to come.
