We’re loving this pretty ruffled tote, inspired by a fabulous b&d bag...roomy enough for everyday use but stylish enough for any occasion!
Rectangular, lined Tote has pieced front and back with self or contrast ruffled inserts. Tote features interior pockets and is finished with purchased rigid purse handles.
Make this great bag in your choice of fabrics; use real or faux suede or leather, felt, twill,
brocade, velvet, corduroy...your
only limit is your imagination.
Fabric:
You'll need 2 yards of your chosen fabric for the bag,
plus 0.75 yard of lining.
If you are lining your ruffles in fabric or lining,
you'll need 1.5 yards for that.
(We're assuming that your fabric is 60" wide.)
You'll also need 2 yards of interfacing (add another
1.5 yards if you are interfacing the ruffles).
The contrast strip takes just a tiny scrap...about 5" x 15" will do it.
Finally the hardware...a pair of bamboo (or similar) handles,
5.75" across the bottom, 1 snap or hook & loop for the tab closure,
and 1 x 10" zipper. Add in 5 purse feet and some 'bag bottom'
stiffening measuring 3" x 17.5" and you're ready to rock!
