The perfect hybrid of chic blouse and comfy T,
these gorgeous tops are designed for a mix of
light-medium weight fabrics...choose a drape-y
blouse fabric like charmeuse, crepe, or rayon for
the front, armhole binding and yoke, and a knit like
a silk(y) jersey, rayon, linen or modal for the
back and sleeves...just remember, the back
must be in a knit, don’t use a woven for it!
Loose-fit, pull-over blouses have a ‘V’ front
neckline, with all that essential bust shaping
transformed into deep pleats at the neck,
a straight front hem & side slits. The slightly
longer shirt-tail hem knit back is gathered
onto a deep curved yoke. Choose the
sleeveless version with bound armholes or
opt for the long elasticated-cuffed sleeves.
Keep your blouses simple in your favorite
colors, or mix your prints for a cool eclectic
look. The sleeveless version is perfect for
warm weather and as a trim layer under
a cardigan or jacket; the long sleeved
version is elegantly pretty. Wear either of
these beauties loose over jeans or pants,
or try a partial, half or full tuck with a high
waisted and tailored skirt or pant.
Shopping list
This one is a little unusual as far as fabric
requirements go...for both versions in sizes
6-8-10-12-14-16 you’ll need a total of around
2 yards/183cm of fabric; sizes 18-20-22-24-26
need around 2 ½ yards/228cm of fabric.
If you want to mix your fabrics you will need to
lay out your pattern after you’ve fitted your muslin,
and work out what pattern pieces you want in which
fabrics...time to grab those special pieces and offcuts
you’ve been saving!
If you are making the long sleeves, add enough
½”/ 1.25cm wide elastic to circle your wrists twice.
Add a scrap of interfacing for the back neckline.
Fabric amounts are for 60”/150cm wide fabric.
