Everyone loves a wrap dress, so try this
super-pretty version, designed for fluid
& drape-y woven fabrics like crepe,
washed linen or chambray, charmeuse,
crinkled gauze, or rayon challis, but also
perfect in knits like single or silk(y) jersey,
rayon, modal, bamboo, or cotton blends.
Fit-and-flare unlined, wrap dress has side
panels plus Dior darts. Dress features a tea
length skirt with a flared ruffle, and closes at
the waist with self fabric ties. Choose the
cut-on cap sleeves, or add the flared cape
-style collar. Sleeves & neckline are finished
with self-fabric bias binding; skirt and cape
sleeves are finished with a narrow hem.
Going to a wedding, a garden party or a
dressy alfresco event? What about a picnic,
an outdoor concert or just for an evening
promenade? This is your perfect outfit all
wrapped up in one easy-to-make, fabulous
-to-wear dress. Wear this beauty with a
strappy heel or a delicate wedge, and
add dainty earrings and a bracelet.
All sizes 6-8-10-12-14-16-18-20-22-24-26
will need around 4 ½ yards or 412 cm fabric.
That’s it! No interfacing, zippers, buttons, just
choose a stunning fabric and you’re good to sew...
All fabric amounts are for 60" or 150cm wide fabric;
please don’t use anything narrower than
54” or 138cm wide fabric, as you may have
trouble fitting the pattern pieces on!
This is a good intermediate level piece, mainly due to fitting the bodice. I did not do the caped collar, because the caped collar seemed too frou-frou. Instructions were straight forward, and consist mainly of seams and seam finishing. If you have small shoulders, you may want a deeper shoulder seam, so be sure to adjust the darts!
