    Runs big

Published by Lulu on 9th May 2019

This is a simple, comfortable dress, but I found it to run big. I made a ten, which matched my measurements and the size I’ve used (successfully) for several other hotpatterns. I took in the sides/sleeves by nearly an inch per side and tapered the sleeves to the wrist to look tidier. I also took 2” from the neckband, but it’s still a little gappy. I also shortened the dress, but that is purely personal choice, not fit. I plan to make this dress again, but I will either take it in at the centers when I cut it out or make a size smaller to narrow the neck enough that I don’t have to watch my bra straps. My fabric was a cotton interlock, fairly stretchy, but the fit issues were present when the fabric was at rest. Still, an attractive dress that I enjoy wearing.
